Which are the best small liberal arts colleges for political science?

I'm really interested in studying political science at a small liberal arts college. Does anyone have recommendations on which schools are considered the best for this major? I'm looking for a place with a strong reputation and great faculty.

For political science studies, there are quite a few liberal arts colleges with recognized programs and respected faculty members. Here are few that stand out:

1. Swarthmore College: Known for its rigorous academics and engaged faculty, Swarthmore has a strong political science department that boasts a wide variety of courses.

2. Amherst College: Their political science program offers five subfields for you to specialize in – American Politics, Comparative Politics, Political Theory, International Relations, and Public Policy.

3. Williams College: Williams is well-regarded for its excellent faculty-student relationships, and its political science department offers comprehensive curriculum in American government, international relations, political theory, and comparative politics.

4. Pomona College: Located in Claremont, California, Pomona's political science department provides a breadth of coursework in several areas and provides opportunities for study abroad, internships, and independent research.

5. Bowdoin College: A college in Maine, Bowdoin is well-known for its Government and Legal Studies Department. It offers four primary subfields: American Government, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory.

6. Claremont McKenna College: CMC is renowned for their Government Department which includes four major fields of study: American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory. It's also part of the Claremont Colleges consortium, giving students access to resources and courses at the other Claremont schools.

7. Middlebury College: Renowned for its language programs and international focus, Middlebury, based in Vermont, has an outstanding political science program, particularly for students interested in international politics.

Remember, rankings and reputation are important, but you should also consider factors such as class size, availability of research opportunities, study abroad programs, and the specific subfields of political science that interest you most when targeting colleges.
