Junior Colleges with Strong Nursing Programs?

I'm considering starting at a junior college before transferring to a four-year school for nursing. Can anyone recommend junior colleges with good nursing programs? I'm in SoCal, but open to other locations too.

For nursing programs at junior colleges, you have plentiful options both in Southern California and beyond. In Southern California specifically:

1. Pasadena City College (PCC) has a well-regarded nursing department, offering an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to the Board of Registered Nursing to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

2. Cerritos College in Norwalk offers an excellent nursing program too, with hands-on learning environments in their health occupations labs. Students can earn their ADN and prepare for the NCLEX examination.

3. Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) has a strong nursing program, offering an ADN that prepares students to take the NCLEX and to transfer for advanced study.

Outside of Southern California, there are several community colleges also known for strong nursing programs:

1. Central New Mexico Community College: Located in Albuquerque, this college's nursing program is often recognized nationally for its excellence.

2. Walla Walla Community College in Washington State has a nursing program that's received multiple accolades over the years.

3. Illinois Central College's nursing program is also highly ranked nationally and offers comprehensive, hands-on training.

Remember that when you're looking at different programs, check their NCLEX pass rates and job placement rates as these are indicators of program quality. Also consider the articulation agreements each junior college has with four-year institutions, as this will make transferring credits smoother for your bachelor's degree in nursing. Best of luck with your journey to becoming a nurse!
