What are the best colleges for art and music?

I have a passion for both visual arts and music, and I'm looking for colleges that excel in these areas. Does anyone have recommendations for schools that have strong programs in both art and music?

Sure, it's great that you're interested in both visual arts and music! This gives you a broad range of opportunities to choose from when considering colleges.

First and foremost, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is renowned for its arts programs, including visual arts. It's also next to Brown University which has a robust music program; and students can cross-register at both schools.

Secondly, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh is a unique institution. It has a high-ranking arts program, the School of Art, and a renowned School of Music. CMU is often well regarded for blending artistic fields with more technical ones.

If you're interested in Music Technology, you might want to look into the University of Southern California (USC). They have a highly-rated program at the intersection of music and technology through their Thornton School of Music.

Yale University also has strong programs in both the visual arts and music. Their School of Art and School of Music are well-respected, with several famous alumni.

Lastly, consider the University of California Berkeley which has a strong Music department and an Art Practice department that focuses on different visual arts mediums.

Remember, the "best" college for art and music will highly depend on what you're looking for. Factors such as the specific areas of art and music you're interested in, the location, cost, and culture of the school will all play a significant role in determining the best fit for you. So, while these schools are known for their strong programs, it's also important for you to decide what you're looking for in a program and a college overall. Have fun searching!
