Suggestions for best colleges in apparel design?

I'm passionate about fashion and want to study apparel design. I'm looking for colleges with reputable apparel design programs, ideally with good internship opportunities or connections in the fashion industry. Any recommendations?

There are numerous great institutions particularly known for apparel design programs where you could truly deepen your knowledge and skills in fashion.

Firstly, Parsons School of Design in New York is known as one of the premier fashion design schools. Its reputation is largely due to its location in NYC, the heart of American fashion, and its stellar faculty and facilities that provide a rigorous and well-rounded curriculum.

Secondly, we have the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), also in New York, which is well-known for its Fashion Design program. This college has a strong industry focus, and students gain practical experience through internships and industry projects.

On the West Coast, there's Otis College of Art and Design in LA. It has a BFA in Fashion Design and is known for its excellent faculty, studio-based approach and close ties to the LA fashion scene.

Then there's Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), which also has a reputable Apparel Design program recognized for its creative and artistic approach to fashion. Because it's a fine arts program, students at RISD also have the opportunity to explore other artistic disciplines.

Lastly, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Georgia is another option. They have fashion design programs at both their Savannah and Atlanta campuses, as well as study abroad opportunities at their campus in France.

All of these schools provide connections to the industry, opportunities for internships, and foster a closer understanding of the fashion market. Remember, location can play a significant role, as it might provide direct access to internships and job opportunities in the fashion industry.

You should check out each institution's respective websites for more exhaustive program details. And do consider other essential factors when choosing a school, such as financial consideration, course length and flexibility of the program, and post-graduation opportunities. Good luck on your search!
