What are some of the best colleges for programming in the US?

I'm super into coding and I'm looking for colleges in the US that are top-tier for programming and computer science. I've heard MIT and Stanford are great, but are there any other schools I should seriously consider?

Certainly, aside from MIT and Stanford, there are various excellent institutions in the U.S. renowned for their computer science programs.

The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) is another top-tier school known for a strong computer science department. Their variety of specializations within the major allows students to focus on areas they're most interested in, such as AI or data science.

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is yet another powerhouse in computer science, particularly praised for their research contributions in the field.

The University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC) also boasts a top-tier computer science program, and their graduates have gone on to work for major tech companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft.

Princeton University's computer science department is known for its commitment to both teaching and research. Students at Princeton have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members on groundbreaking research in areas like machine learning, robotics, and computational biology.

Massachusetts-based Harvard University also offers a renowned program. Harvard's CS50, the school's introduction to computer science, is one of its most popular courses.

Lastly, consider the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle. This institution is known for its strong ties to the industry given its proximity to major tech companies.

All these schools offer a rigorous education in computer science and will prepare you well for a career in programming or related fields. Be sure to research not just the prestige of the program, but also consider class sizes, access to faculty, availability of internships, and opportunities for research or independent study.
