What are considered the best colleges for wildlife biology?

I want to focus on wildlife biology for my college major, but I'm not sure which schools are best known for this. Could anyone offer some suggestions?

If you're drawn to Wildlife Biology as a major, you're likely looking for schools that not only provide a solid understanding of the topic but also offer opportunities for hands-on learning and research.

On one hand, the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) has a strong Environmental Science and Management program wherein you can specialize in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology. This program focuses on maintaining biodiversity, with classes covering a range of disciplines including ecology and conservation biology.

Secondly, you have Colorado State University, which offers a robust Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology program. CSU's location allows for incredible field experiences, whether you're studying wildlife management, conservation biology, or a more specific subset of the discipline.

Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has a well-regarded program in Natural Resources where you can concentrate on topics related to wildlife, including conservation biology. In this program, you can study a range of topics from ecology to genetics and evolution.

Lastly, the University of Florida offers a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation major within their School of Forest Resources & Conservation. This program emphasizes the integration of knowledge from several disciplines to manage and conserve plants, animals, and ecosystems.

Keep in mind that the 'best' college will really depend on what you want out of your college experience and your career aspirations. Be sure to look in-depth at the curriculum, faculty research interests, field experiences, intern opportunities, and extra-curricular clubs and activities at each university to gauge what might be the best fit for you.
