What does seasonal work actually mean?

I'm trying to understand what 'seasonal work' means for someone still in high school. Does this usually apply to specific types of jobs, and is it something worth considering for breaks?

When we talk about 'seasonal work,' we are referring to jobs that are temporary and connect to a specific time of the year, often influenced by changes in weather, holidays, or other annual events. These jobs surge in demand during certain periods, hence being called 'seasonal.'

For high school students, popular examples of seasonal work might include working at a local farm or orchard during harvest season, working retail during the holiday season when stores need extra staff, or being a lifeguard or camp counselor during the summer when pools and camps are open. It can also include tutoring or babysitting jobs when they see a spike during exam seasons or school holidays.

One noteworthy benefit of seasonal jobs for high schoolers is their flexibility. They often don't require long-term commitments, so they can be done during school breaks when you have extra time—this can be a great opportunity to earn some money, learn new skills, and possibly explore career interests. Just make sure that the job doesn't overwhelm you and that you have enough time left for rest, personal activities, and preparing for the upcoming school term.
