Top universities in the USA for college applications

As a high school junior, I'm beginning to look at universities in the USA. Can anyone share which schools are considered the most recognized or prestigious? I'm looking for places with strong academic programs and vibrant student life.

There is a plethora of universities in the USA known for their academic rigor and dynamic student life. The ones most often recognized as the most prestigious are typically those in the Ivy League, which includes eight institutions:
