Most Religious Public Universities in the U.S.

I'm interested in schools that have a strong religious community or influence as I'm considering this for my college choice. What are some public universities in the U.S. known for being particularly religious?

While some public universities in the U.S. are affiliated with a specific religious organization or institution, there are certainly many that have strong religious communities on their campuses. Two that often come to mind are:

1. University of Utah: Located in Salt Lake City, the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), the University of Utah has one of the largest populations of LDS students among public universities. The LDS church is a major influence in Utah: many students are members, and the school offers LDS Institute classes, and activities specifically geared towards this religious community.

2. Indiana University - Bloomington: Despite being a public institution, IU has a vibrant religious community. The school is near 70+ religious organizations, catering to a diverse range of faiths. With over 750 student organizations, many religious or spiritual groups can be found on campus. These include Hillel (a Jewish student organization), the Muslim Students Association, several Christian ministries, and more.

Bear in mind that one does not need a religiously affiliated university to foster their faith during their college years. Even secular public universities will have religious clubs and organizations, and nearby places of worship, ready to welcome and support students in their religious journey.

Remember to review the university's offerings for religious student groups and nearby religious institutions when determining if their campus will meet your spiritual needs.

Best of luck as you navigate this important decision!
