Can anyone recommend universities with generous bursaries?

I'm thinking about applying to universities that offer generous bursaries as I'm worried about affording college. Which universities should I consider for their reputation of being generous in this aspect?

Several universities are renowned for offering generous financial aid opportunities, making them appealing to students requiring financial support. Schools range from Ivy League institutions to public universities and private colleges across the United States. Here are a few to consider:

1. Harvard University: Harvard's financial aid program is one of the most generous in the nation. Families earning less than $85,000 per year pay nothing towards the cost of attendance. Families who earn between $85,000 and $150,000 per year will pay between 0 and 10% of their annual income.

2. Stanford University: Stanford offers one of the most generous financial aid programs in the US. There's a full financial aid package for households making less than $65,000 a year, with additional scholarships and programs available at varying family income levels.

3. Princeton University: Princeton's financial aid program is exceptional, with grants covering 100% of demonstrated need. They follow a "no loan" policy which means students are not expected to take loans as part of their financial aid packages, and can graduate debt-free.

4. MIT: MIT is committed to meeting 100% of the demonstrated need of all students. All financial aid packages at MIT are gift aid, typically composed of MIT Scholarship funds.

5. University of California, Berkeley: In addition to federal and state aid, UC Berkeley offers its own need-based gift aid program called the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan for in-state students. Families who earn less than $80,000 a year have their systemwide tuition and fees covered by gift aid.

6. Duke University: Duke is committed to meeting 100% of the demonstrated financial need for all admitted students, providing a blend of scholarships, grants, federal work-study, and a very small amount of loans.

7. Vanderbilt University: Known for its Opportunity Vanderbilt initiative, Vanderbilt provides need-based scholarships in lieu of loans.

All these schools have need-blind admission policies, which means that they do not look at an applicant's ability to pay for college during the admissions process. Always remember to try the net price calculator available on each university's financial aid webpage to get an estimate of what you'd be required to pay.

Please keep in mind that these are just a few examples, and there are many other universities that also offer generous financial aid packages. Make sure to also apply for scholarships externally to maximize your financial aid. Good luck with your college journey!
