Which universities are considered the most green?

I'm passionate about sustainability and want to attend a university that's leading in green initiatives. Are there schools known for their environmental efforts? I'd love to be part of an eco-friendly campus.

There are quite a few universities that are committed to sustainable practices and green living. Many have even received recognition for their efforts.

1. University of California, Irvine: Known for its robust sustainability program, the university is consistently recognized as a sierra club-cool school. From a forward-thinking transportation system emphasizing biking and public transit to a commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions, UC Irvine invests substantially in sustainability.

2. Arizona State University: ASU has the School of Sustainability, which offers degrees and conducts research in sustainability. They are also known for their robust solar power program.

3. Colorado State University: CSU is a recognized leader when it comes to green universities. They were the first ever to achieve STARS Platinum rating for sustainability and have a School of Global Environmental Sustainability.

4. Stanford University: Stanford has a comprehensive energy system that conserves water and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. They also offer an interdisciplinary Earth Systems program and the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment conducts extensive research in the field.

5. University of California, Davis: UC Davis has a "Cool Campus Challenge" aimed to reduce their carbon footprint and leads in sustainable dining practices.

6. Green Mountain College: This college takes their name seriously. Known for its environmental liberal arts program, all students are required to complete 37 credits in its core sustainability-focused curriculum.

Remember that individual programs can vary, so it's a good idea to explore each school's website and see if their efforts align with your sustainability goals.
