Which university boasts the most accomplished philosophy faculty?

I'm super interested in majoring in philosophy and want to attend a school with a strong faculty. Does anyone know which university has the largest or most prominent philosophy department? Any recommendations would be awesome!

While the size of a philosophy department may not always be indicative of its quality, schools with larger faculties often have a wider range of specialties covered, accommodating various philosophical interests.

With regard to reputation, several universities are renowned for their philosophy programs due to the accomplished faculty members teaching there.

- Princeton University in the USA ranks highly for its philosophy department, with faculty members who are leaders in their specialties. The department at Princeton is quite prominent with highly influential scholars.

- Oxford University and University of Cambridge in the UK also have robust philosophy faculties known for their superior scholarship and contributions to philosophical literature.

- Stanford University, Harvard University, and University of California, Berkeley also have very strong philosophy departments.

While these universities have top-tier philosophy departments, you should also consider the specific fields of philosophy you are interested in as different universities may specialize in different philosophical areas. Consider scheduling chats with the faculty or students within the departments at schools you are interested in. This can give you a sense of the faculty's breadth and depth in the topics that interest you.

Remember, the best program for you will align not only with academic reputation but also your specific interests and the availability of resources for undergraduate students. So, ensure you explore various options, examining the specific courses on offer, faculty interests, and support available to undergraduates.
