What's the process of enlisting in the military called?

I'm considering joining the military after high school. What's the official term used for when you sign up or enlist in the military? Just trying to get the terminology straight for my research.

The official term for signing up to join the military is "enlisting." When you've made the decision to join and are ready to commit to serving, you go through a process known as "enlistment." This process involves several steps, including meeting with a recruiter, taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test to determine what roles you qualify for, and going through a medical examination at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). Once these steps are done, you'll take the Oath of Enlistment, which is where you formally commit to military service. However, keep in mind that the steps might vary slightly depending on the branch of service you're interested in. I hope this clears it up for you.
