What Are Some of the Top Paying Vocational Jobs?

I'm starting to explore career options that don’t require a four-year degree, and I'm curious about which vocational jobs pay the most. Does anyone have a list of top-paying vocational careers or experiences with them?

There are indeed a number of well-paying vocational jobs that can be acquired with some training but don't require a four-year degree. Here are a few noteworthy ones:

1. Air Traffic Controller: They manage the movement of different aircraft, ensuring their safe takeoff, travel, and landing. This job typically requires an associate's degree and training from the Federal Aviation Administration.

2. Radiation Therapist: Working in the healthcare industry, these professionals administer radiation treatments to patients battling cancer and other illnesses. A certificate or two-year degree is commonly required.

3. Elevator Installers and Repairers: They set up and fix elevators, escalators, and similar equipment. This job often requires an apprenticeship, but it is one of the highest-paying vocational jobs.

4. Dental Hygienist: A dental hygienist cleans patient's teeth, examines for oral diseases, and provides other preventative dental care. An associate's degree in dental hygiene is needed, as well as licensure in your state.

5. Commercial Pilot: They fly and navigate airplanes or helicopters for airlines that aren't regularly scheduled, and usually need less training than airline pilots, which typically requires an associate's degree.

6. Nuclear Medicine Technologist: This role involves administering radioactive drugs to patients for imaging or therapeutic purposes, and typically requires an associate's degree in nuclear medicine technology.

Remember, though, that while these jobs might not require a traditional four-year degree, many do require some form of post-secondary training, certification, or licensure. And as with any job, your income can be influenced by a variety of factors, including level of experience, geographic location, and employer size and type.
