California has several excellent schools for studying computer science. The University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University are known for having some of the top computer science programs in the country. Stanford's program is particularly known for its emphasis on artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction, while UC Berkeley has a broad curriculum covering many fields within computer science.

The California Institute of Technology, or Caltech, also has a very strong computer science program. Caltech focuses on a hands-on and research-oriented approach, allowing students to dive deep into topics of interest.

University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) also have robust computer science programs. UCSD is known for its strength in data science and artificial intelligence, and UCLA has a well-regarded program with strengths in systems and networking, among other areas.

The University of Southern California also has a strong computer science program, known for its research opportunities and industry connections, which can be advantageous for internships and job placement.

Remember to consider not just the ranking of the program, but also look for schools that are a good fit for you in terms of size, culture, location, and other aspects important to you. Additionally, opportunities for research, internships, and student projects can be a crucial part of a computer science education, so consider these aspects when researching schools as well.
