Choosing the Best College for Forensic Science?

I'm passionate about forensic science and want to know which colleges offer the best programs. Are there any schools known for their forensic science courses or facilities? I'm open to different locations, so any suggestions are welcome!

Forensic Science as a field of study is interdisciplinary and gets bolstered by other strong programs such as biology, chemistry, or criminal justice within universities. Some of the best programs you'll find are at:

1. Pennsylvania State University - This university's Eberly College of Science has a popular program in Forensic Science. Their degree offers two distinct concentrations: Molecular Biology and Chemistry.

2. George Washington University (GWU) - They have an entire department (the Department of Forensic Sciences) dedicated to the study of forensic science at a graduate level, offering Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Molecular Biology, and Crime Scene Investigation among others. Undergrads can take part in the combined BS/MFS in Forensic Chemistry.

3. Loyola University Chicago - It offers a Forensic Science major that combines rigorous coursework in biology and chemistry with research and practical experience, preparing students for a variety of careers in the field.

These universities offer extensive hands-on experience through internships, access to operational crime labs, and use of modern instruments for DNA sequencing, toxicology, and trace evidence comparison that will help provide the experiences needed to forge a strong career. Be sure to check each school's specific course offerings and opportunities for work experience/ internships as that might be a determinant of the program that best suits your needs.

Ultimately, the best program for you will suit your specific needs and aspirations, so be sure to consider factors such as location, class size, cost, and opportunities for internships or research in addition to the strength of a program when making your decision.
