Best Colleges for Music Production and Engineering?

I'm really passionate about music and I'm looking into careers involving music production and engineering. Does anyone know which colleges have the best programs for this? Specifically interested in schools that offer hands-on experience.

Certainly! There are many excellent music production and engineering programs out there that offer tangible experience.

1. Berklee College of Music: Located in Boston, Berklee is recognized worldwide as a leader in music education. Their Music Production and Engineering (MP&E) major is extremely popular and offers students direct access to professionally equipped studios for hands-on learning.

2. University of Southern California: The Thornton School of Music offers a unique program called Music Production that combines practical technical skills, critical listening, and creative aesthetics. USC also does an excellent job of integrating new technology into its programming, which is crucial in a fast-changing field like music production.

3. New York University: NYU's Steinhardt School offers a Music Technology program that covers topics from music production to audio engineering, with plenty of hands-on experience in their recording studios and labs. A bonus is the school's location in New York City, a hotbed of music and entertainment industries.

4. Belmont University: Belmont’s Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business offers a Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering Technology. This Nashville-based program provides hands-on experience in state-of-the-art recording studios and lets you learn in a city famous for its music scene.

Remember though, when choosing a program, it's important to consider more than just rankings. Check out the curriculum, faculty, facilities (i.e., recording studios), and connections to the music industry. Plus, you may want to consider the overall college experience, including size, location, cost, culture, and other factors that matter to you.
