When you think about outstanding private universities for engineering, several come to mind right away.

MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) should be your first consideration. They consistently top the charts in various engineering disciplines due to their exceptional faculty, unparalleled facilities, and emphasis on innovative, hands-on learning.

Stanford University also stands out with its renowned engineering department. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford can offer remarkable networking opportunities and access to some of the most advanced tech companies in the world.

Caltech (California Institute of Technology) is another strong contender, known for small class sizes and a high faculty-to-student ratio, which ensures personalized attention.

Carnegie Mellon University, specifically its College of Engineering, is renowned for its emphasis on interdisciplinary and collaborative projects, which is highly valuable in the engineering industry.

Johns Hopkins' Whiting School of Engineering offers strong programs particularly in Biomedical Engineering, and provides unique opportunities for research even at an undergrad level.

Cooper Union in New York could also be an option considering it's a small school, with strong emphasis on fine arts and engineering, providing a unique blend of creativity and technical education.

All these universities offer small class sizes and have a strong network of alumni, faculty, and industry connections, which can be beneficial for internships, research, and eventually job placement. So all of these factors make them some of the best private engineering colleges in the country. Make sure to look into specific engineering disciplines at each school, because some schools excel more in certain areas.
