What are considered the best colleges for engineering in Arizona?

I’m thinking of applying to engineering programs in Arizona and would love to know which schools have a strong reputation in engineering education. Are there specific colleges there that are known for particular engineering disciplines?

When thinking about engineering programs in Arizona, two standout institutions come to mind: Arizona State University (ASU) and the University of Arizona (UA).

ASU's Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is quite well-regarded, with numerous sub-disciplines ranking within the top 50 nationally. Among these, the industrial, biological, aerospace, and electrical engineering programs are particularly noteworthy.

On the other hand, UA's College of Engineering is also a strong competitor. It is especially renowned for its aerospace, environmental, and chemical engineering programs.

Both schools provide a wide array of engineering disciplines, so depending on your specific interests, one may be more appealing than the other. Keep in mind that apart from the reputation of the program, factors like financial feasibility, campus culture, available research opportunities, and faculty should also play a role in your decision-making process.

Another school to consider if you are looking at less traditional engineering disciplines might be Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. As the name implies, it's particularly strong in fields related to aeronautics.

Remember to visit (in-person or virtually) the schools, talk to current students or alumni, and gather as much information as possible to make an informed decision. Good luck with your applications!
