Best colleges for architectural engineering in the USA?

I'm considering studying architectural engineering after high school, and I want to know which colleges in the USA have the strongest programs. Any recommendations for campuses with great facilities or cool extracurriculars in this field?

When thinking about strong architectural engineering programs, a handful of schools immediately come to mind.

First, the University of Texas at Austin is known for its architectural engineering program. It offers a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, and boasts a strong relationship with its local, much-respected Architecture and Civil Engineering programs.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo also has a solid program where students can earn a Bachelor's of Science in Architectural Engineering. The program here has a strong emphasis on hands-on learning through labs and design projects.

Pennsylvania State University is another excellent choice. They offer a Bachelor's program in Architectural Engineering and place a high emphasis on integrating design and construction into their curriculum. The university also has interesting extracurricular opportunities such as the annual Architectural Engineering Career Fair.

Lastly, Illinois Institute of Technology offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in architectural engineering. Their state-of-the-art facilities provide students with practical experience in testing and modeling structural systems.

Considering your interest in additional opportunities, many of these programs have extracurricular offerings such as competition teams, industry sponsored design projects, and student organizations specifically tailored for architectural engineering students. For example, the University of Texas at Austin has the Architectural Engineering Institute Student Chapter that provides networking and professional development opportunities.

Remember to look further into these programs on the college's official websites and perhaps reach out to current students or alumni to get a personal perspective. Good luck on your college search!
