Researching soil science colleges?

Does anyone know which colleges are known for their soil science programs? I'm considering a career in environmental science and looking for schools with good resources and faculty in this area.

Sure, there are several excellent universities with strong programs in soil science.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison has a highly regarded Department of Soil Science. It offers both undergraduate and graduate studies, with coursework ranging from Soil and Environmental Chemistry to Soil Microbiology.

Another institution to consider is the University of Florida. They have a robust Soil and Water Sciences Department which is very committed to research and extension in areas like soil microbiology and biochemistry, soil and water chemistry, wetland biogeochemistry and more.

Pennsylvania State University also has a great program through its College of Agricultural Sciences. The Department of Ecosystem Science and Management offers a major in Environmental Resource Management, where you can specialize in Soil Science.

Lastly, the University of California - Davis has an excellent program in soil science. Their program, offered through the Department of Land, Air and Water Resources, lets students take courses in areas like soil-plant-water relations, soil chemistry, and soil microbiology amongst several others.

While these are some well-regarded programs, remember to consider other factors such as location, cost, available scholarships, etc. Also, consider reaching out to current students or graduates from these universities to get a more personal perspective on each program's strengths and weaknesses. Good luck in your college search!
