Suggestions for historically black colleges excelling in engineering?

I'm interested in attending a historically black college or university (HBCU) with a strong engineering program. Which HBCUs are known for having top-notch engineering departments? I'd love to hear about any standout programs or unique opportunities they might offer.

Great to see you're considering HBCUs for your engineering studies. Historically black colleges and universities have been instrumental in educating African-American students in STEM disciplines including Engineering.

A top contender would be North Carolina A&T State University. As the largest HBCU by student population, N.C. A&T consistently ranks high for its engineering programs. The College of Engineering offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees across various engineering disciplines.

Another notable HBCU is Howard University. Its College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) holds notable accreditations, and offers a range of programs in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, along with a program in Computer Science.

Located in Alabama, Tuskegee University is historical in context its College of Engineering has an established reputation, offering several programs which includes Aerospace Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science Engineering.

Also consider Florida A&M University (FAMU) and their joint College of Engineering with Florida State University. This unique institution combines resources from both universities, creating a diverse learning environment.

Each of these institutions offers unique benefits. I recommend reaching out to the engineering departments of these colleges to learn more about their specific advantages and opportunities. And don't forget to check out student reviews, alumni success stories, and the specific faculty profiles for each engineering department. This can give you deeper insights into the culture and success of the program. Good luck with your search!
