What are the best colleges in Chicago for engineering?

I'm considering studying engineering in Chicago, but I'm unsure which schools are the best for this field. Does anyone have recommendations for top engineering colleges in Chicago? Any insight on their programs would be super helpful!

If you're interested in studying engineering in Chicago, you have a few strong options to consider.

The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) has an Armour College of Engineering, where students can specialize in areas like aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, and more. IIT focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as experiential learning, including co-ops and internships.

Northwestern University, although technically located in Evanston just outside of Chicago, has a renowned McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science where students can pursue a range of engineering fields. Northwestern is known for its strong research opportunities and interdisciplinary options, and its engineering program is notable in whole-brain engineering which integrates the analytical with the creative.

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) also houses the College of Engineering, offering a diverse range of engineering programs such as bioengineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and more. UIC takes pride in its urban public research commitment, community outreach, and strong co-op programs linking education to real-world experience.

Another to consider is Loyola University Chicago. While it doesn't offer as extensive an engineering program, it does have a School of Engineering and provides degrees in biomedical engineering and engineering science.

Make sure to research each school thoroughly to find out which one would match your specific interests and career goals in the engineering field. The quality of engineering programs can sometimes greatly depend on the particular subfield of engineering, not just the overall reputation of the institution.
