Best Texas colleges for engineering?

I'm a high school junior in Texas starting to think about college. I'm interested in engineering and want to stay in state. Which Texas colleges have the best engineering programs? Any advice on where to start looking?

There are several great engineering schools in Texas to consider. Here are few of them:

1. University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin): Known for having a strong overall engineering program, UT Austin ranks very highly for Civil, Electrical and Chemical engineering.

2. Rice University: Rice also has a solid engineering program, and it's known for its smaller class sizes and more intimate academic setting compared to larger public colleges.

3. Texas A&M: The university is well-regarded for many of its engineering programs, so it may suit your needs, especially if you're interested in fields like Petroleum Engineering.

4. University of Houston: It has a prominent engineering program if you're particularly interested in the energy sector.

To determine which would be the best fit for you, consider contemplating on factors beyond just the program's reputation, such as class size, campus culture, opportunities for research or practical applications of engineering, financial aid, etc.

Somewhere to start looking would be each school's department or college of engineering website. They usually cater significant insights into what it's like to be an engineering student there, lists faculty members and their research, and provides information about specific sub-fields or concentrations within engineering that they offer.

Additionally, you might want to check if these schools offer virtual or in-person visit opportunities such as open houses or info sessions specific to their engineering programs. Conversations with current engineering students or recent graduates can be invaluable! Best of luck in your search.
