What are the top colleges for Environmental Engineering in NC?

I'm considering pursuing Environmental Engineering and I'm interested in schools in North Carolina. I'd love to hear any suggestions for the top colleges in the state for this major. Any insights on what each school offers?

Certainly, North Carolina does have some strong options for students interested in Environmental Engineering. Three universities standout in particular:

1. North Carolina State University (NC State): NC State's College of Engineering is generally well-regarded and boasts a particularly good program in Environmental Engineering. Their program helps students understand processes at the environmental interface, manage environmental resources, and prevent and remediate environmental problems. The College of Engineering also offers a robust co-op program where students gain real-world, paid work experience.

2. Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering: Duke's Pratt School has a dedicated environmental engineering undergraduate major. This program trains students to approach complex problems with an interdisciplinary perspective, especially problems pertaining to environmental systems and processes. Duke also houses the Nicholas School of the Environment, which offers various relevant experiences and resources.

3. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill): UNC doesn't offer an undergraduate major in environmental engineering, but it does have a strong Environmental Science major that could provide a solid foundation for later specializing in environmental engineering at the graduate level. The environmental science program there is interdisciplinary and encourages students to understand environmental issues using a scientific approach.

Remember to consider the other aspects of these schools, such as location, size, resources, and student culture when selecting your institution. Also, be sure to inquire about opportunities for research or internships in environmental engineering, as these can be key to building a strong career in the field.
