Best college for mechanical engineering in NY?

I'm a high school junior thinking about majoring in mechanical engineering, and I'm considering colleges in New York. Can anyone recommend some of the best colleges for mechanical engineering in the state?

New York is home to a number of excellent universities with strong mechanical engineering programs. Here are a few to consider:

1. Cornell University: Recognized widely for its excellent engineering programs, Cornell's College of Engineering has a highly-rated mechanical engineering department that offers a robust undergraduate curriculum. It prepares its students for a broad range of opportunities in the field.

2. Columbia University: Their mechanical engineering department is part of the broader Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. Columbia provides a strong curriculum and its location in Manhattan offers an abundance of internships and job opportunities.

3. Rochester Institute of Technology: RIT has a renowned College of Engineering known for its co-op program which helps students gain practical experience in their field before graduation. Their Mechanical Engineering program is very comprehensive.

4. NYU Tandon School of Engineering: Located in Brooklyn, it offers a strong Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department with research opportunities and a curriculum that balances theory and practical application.

5. Binghamton University: As a part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, Binghamton's Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science has a good mechanical engineering program which is both high quality and relatively affordable especially for in-state students.

6. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute: In Troy, NY, RPI has a highly respected School of Engineering, and its mechanical engineering program consistently ranks among the best.

Note, each of these universities will have different admissions standards and campus cultures, so I recommend visiting, if possible, to get a sense of which environment you'd prefer.
