What are the best colleges in the US for environmental science?

I'm super passionate about environmental science and want to find a college in the US that has a strong program. Any recommendations for top schools I should consider?

Sure, depending on what you want out of your college experience, there are several U.S. schools with excellent environmental science programs that you might consider:

1. Stanford University: Stanford's program places a special emphasis on understanding environmental systems and applying scientific principles when addressing environmental challenges.

2. University of California–Berkeley: UC Berkeley's Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management aims to integrate and analyze the biological, physical, and social dimensions of environmental issues.

3. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): MIT's Environmental Solutions Initiative ties in studies from across the institution to create a comprehensive research program focused on finding solutions to complex environmental problems. You can minor in Environment and Sustainability directly through the initiative, and major in Climate System Science and Engineering through the departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences. Many other majors at MIT also allow you to pursue an environmental-focused track.

4. California Institute of Technology Caltech: Caltech's Environmental Science and Engineering program is interdisciplinary, tying in fields like biology, chemistry, physics, and geology.

5. Yale University: Yale's School of the Environment has a very interdisciplinary approach, which allows students to combine environmental science with other fields of interest. While the School of the Environment only administers graduate programs, the undergraduate Environmental Studies major is also well-regraded, and you may be able to take advantage of some of the graduate-level resources, especially if you take initiative!

These are just a few options to help you get started on your search. Take the time to look into each school's specific program to see if their approach, course offerings, and faculty line up with what you're looking for in an environmental science program. And remember, what matters most is finding the best fit for you, socially and personally as well as academically. Good luck with your college search!
