Combining forensic science, chemistry, and music in college?

I'm passionate about forensic science, chemistry, and music, and I would love to study all three in college. Are there any colleges that offer strong programs in these areas? How feasible is it to combine these interests?

Combining these three areas of interest is definitely possible, and many colleges and universities would be able to accommodate your interests, depending on the extent to which you wish to study each subject.

Generally, you can major in forensic science or chemistry and minor in music. Alternatively, you might double major in chemistry and music, and then take forensics-related electives or internships. It all depends on how you see these passions fitting together, and how diverse you want your college schedule to be.

For a strong program in forensic science and chemistry, you might consider Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), which has a highly regarded forensic science program. The university also has a reputable chemistry department.

Simultaneously, schools such as the University of Michigan (UMich) offer robust programs in both chemistry and music. Other large universities like UCLA also have strong programs in all three areas.

Regarding feasibility, it is essential to keep in mind that both science and music can be time-intensive studies. Laboratory works for science majors and practice times for music studies could take significant chunks of time. However, it is not impossible to manage if you are fully committed to integrating these areas into your study plan.

Remember that college is your opportunity to tailor your experience to your interests and career goals, so don't be afraid to mix and match until you find the right combination for you. Finally, when you finalize your college list, make sure to reach out to the schools' respective departments to get all your curricular questions answered. That will give you a clearer picture of what to expect and how to plan your course load.
