I'm really into environmental engineering and I'm looking for the best colleges for this major. What schools have great programs and opportunities in this area? Would love any advice!

Good to hear that you're pursuing Environmental Engineering, a discipline that's crucial in our current global context.

Stanford University should be one of the first institutions you consider, given its renowned School of Engineering. It offers a broad curriculum in environmental engineering, and its research projects often address current issues like climate change and sustainable development.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is another top institution that you can look at. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT is recognized as a global leader. They offer a multidisciplinary approach with a focus on clean energy, climate science, and more.

University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), also has a highly respected Environmental Engineering program. Students benefit from close interaction with faculty members and access to the state-of-the-art labs at the College of Engineering.

Moving more towards the East, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) provides an excellent Environmental Engineering program, offering both traditional coursework and cutting-edge research opportunities in areas like water quality and treatment, and environmental nanotechnology.

The University of Michigan (UMich) also has a high-ranking Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, offering a degree program that is immersive and comprehensive.

Keep in mind that choosing a school isn't just about ranking. You should also take note of the specific areas of research and study within the environmental engineering department, faculty members you might want to work with, the school’s location and how it could affect your studies and internships, and of course, your overall fit with the school's culture and values.

Hope this helps you get started on your search!
