Which US colleges excel in engineering?

I'm curious about which universities in the US have the best engineering programs. I've heard about some like MIT and Stanford, but are there others that are frequently recommended for engineering students?

Indeed, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford are certainly leading schools for engineering, but there are numerous other universities that are highly recognized for their engineering programs as well.

The University of California, Berkeley (often just called Cal), for instance, is known for its strong College of Engineering. Programs there include Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS), Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Similarly, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, has a solid reputation for multiple engineering specialties. Their Aerospace Engineering program is especially strong, with a rich history and close connections to the space industry.

Carnegie Mellon University, particularly its College of Engineering and its School of Computer Science, is also a top option. This school is acclaimed for its programs in Computer Engineering and Software Engineering.

Purdue University's College of Engineering is considered one of the best, particularly in the areas of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering.

The engineering program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is also frequently lauded. It is particularly recognized for its Civil Engineering and Computer Engineering.

Finally, California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is another top-tier institution that offers numerous engineering specialties such as Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

These are just a few examples, and there are many other great programs nationwide, depending on the specific engineering discipline you're interested in. Make sure also to consider factors like location, school size, internship opportunities, and potential advisers when choosing a program.
