Top Missouri College for Engineering

I'm interested in pursuing engineering and curious about the best colleges in Missouri for it. What makes a college stand out for engineering in Missouri, and are there any specific programs I should be aware of?

Missouri is home to several colleges with strong engineering programs, but I'd say two of the most renowned ones are the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) and Washington University in St. Louis.

Missouri S&T is particularly well-regarded for its focus and strength in STEM disciplines, especially engineering. Offering over 15 undergraduate engineering programs ranging from civil to petroleum engineering, Missouri S&T has a rich history of producing highly competent men and women in the engineering field. One unique program to note is the Explosives Engineering minor which provides a specialized knowledge base in energetic materials that isn't commonly offered at other institutions.

On the other hand, Washington University in St. Louis offers the courses in five major engineering departments: biomedical engineering, energy, environmental & chemical engineering, electrical & systems engineering, mechanical engineering & materials science, and computer science & engineering. Washington University in St. Louis has strong connections with industry partners, offering a unique practical perspective to their coursework.

Both stand out through their internship, co-op, and research experiences that provide a practical, hands-on complement to classroom learning. They also boast high placement rates for graduates, indicating strong relationships with companies and the overall quality of their programs.

Remember, "best" is personal to every student. So while these colleges are well-ranked and praised, you should also consider the kind of engineering you wish to study, the size and location of school you feel most comfortable at, and other factors such as extracurricular activities and financial aid availability.
