Combining computer science and basketball at college?

I'm really into both computer science and basketball and want a college experience that allows me to dive deep into both. Are there any colleges known for strong programs in both areas?

There are a good number of schools that offer a great mix of both basketball and computer science, although the "best" might depend on the level of basketball and computer science you're seeking.

For example, Stanford University has an exceptional Computer Science program. Their department is consistently ranked in the top 3 nationally. In terms of basketball, while they might not be regular championship contenders, they consistently perform well in the Pac-12.

Duke University could be another great choice. They have a strong computer science department and are also known for their men's basketball team, which is one of the best in the nation.

The University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill is another such example. UNC's computer science department is known for pioneering research in the field, and its men's basketball team is historically one of the strongest in the country.

Lastly, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) fields competitive Division III basketball teams and is renowned worldwide for its strong computer science program.

Remember though, it's important to consider not only program strengths, but also factors like location, course requirements, school culture and size, and opportunities for internships or research. As you explore your options, I would recommend reaching out to current students or alumni, attending virtual or in-person campus tours, and checking out what kind of computer science research or basketball training opportunities each school offers. Good luck with your college search process!
