Best colleges in Michigan for computer engineering?

I'm planning on going into computer engineering and I'm thinking about staying in Michigan. What are the top colleges in Michigan known for computer engineering? Any advice would be great, including personal experiences.

Michigan is home to several excellent colleges for computer engineering. The top ones that consistently rank high in this field are:

1. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor: UMich's College of Engineering is renowned for its Computer Engineering program. The coursework is rigorous and offers numerous research and collaboration opportunities.

2. Michigan State University: MSU's College of Engineering is noted for fostering a hands-on approach to learning. They provide programs to work closely with faculty on research, which can be a great asset.

3. Michigan Technological University: Located in Houghton, MTU is very well-regarded, particularly in fields related to technology and engineering. Their Electrical and Computer Engineering department offers curriculum that incorporates innovative research.

4. Wayne State University: Based in Detroit, Wayne State's College of Engineering offers a robust computer engineering curriculum with opportunities to engage in meaningful research and internships.

Remember, the "best" college will depend on what you're looking for: large university versus small college environment, proximity to home, opportunities for research or internships, financial aid availability, etc. Probably the most important step would be to visit each campus, if possible, to get a sense of where you might fit in best.

I've heard from students who attended UMich, for example, that they were able to engage in hands-on experiential learning quite early and appreciated the school's dedication to integrating theory and practice, while others at smaller institutions like MTU have benefited from the close-knit community and faculty attention. Look beyond the rankings and consider what each institution can offer in line with your career goals and personal preferences.
