Which is the best college degree to pair with computer science?

I'm interested in majoring in computer science, but I'm also thinking about pairing it with another degree. What major complements computer science the best?

The answer to this question will largely depend on your personal interests and career aspirations. There are several degrees that can potentially complement a Computer Science (CS) major, and here are some examples that span various fields:

1. Mathematics: If you're looking to deepen your understanding of the theoretical aspects of CS, a math degree can be a great choice. It provides a solid foundation in areas like logic, statistics, and calculus, which are foundational to a lot of computer science.

2. Business or Economics: These can be excellent companions to a CS degree if you're interested in launching a tech startup, working in tech management, or understanding the broader economic implications of technology.

3. Psychology or Cognitive Science: If you're interested in human-computer interaction, UX design, or artificial intelligence, these fields offer insights into human behavior and thinking processes.

4. Data Science : If your interest primarily lies in areas such as machine learning, big data, or AI, then Data Science can be an ideal choice. It combines statistics, math, and computer science theories to manage and interpret vast amounts of data.

5. Physics or Engineering: If you're interested in fields like game development, virtual reality or scientific computing, physics or engineering can provide a good foundation.

6. English or Communication Studies: If you're looking to work in a role that requires strong communication skills (such as product management, tech consulting, or technical writing), pairing CS with a communication- or writing-intensive degree can be very beneficial.

Remember, the best double major for a CS student is the one that aligns with your career goals and personal interests. Exploring elective courses in different fields during your first year can also give you exposure to potential double major areas.
