Best degrees to pursue alongside military service?

I'm planning to join the military but also want to pursue a college degree. What degree fields complement military service well and offer strong career prospects both in and out of the military?

Exploring degrees that align well with military service is a great way to make the most of your education and build a versatile career path. It's common for military personnel to pursue degrees that either enhance their current roles or prepare them for future civil careers.

A degree in Criminal Justice or Homeland Security can reinforce your understanding of law enforcement and national security issues and could lead to opportunities within military intel, law enforcement, or government agencies after your service.

Similarly, a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, etc.) can provide you with the hard skills that could be beneficial in various military technical roles. This experience and knowledge could eventually transition into a civilian engineering role.

Business Administration or Management is another pathway to consider, as the skills learned – organizational, leadership, strategic planning, etc. – are transferable to numerous roles within the military and in the private sector.

Lastly, if you're interested in healthcare, Nursing or Health Sciences are strong options. Military medics and nurses are in high demand, and these careers also transition smoothly to civilian life.

Ultimately, it's important to consider your interests and long-term career goals when choosing a degree. Explore each path thoroughly to determine which best coincides with your military role and future aspirations outside of the military.
