What is the best military service branch for flying jets?

I'm really interested in becoming a pilot after high school, and I'm considering the military. Which branch should I join if I want the best opportunities to fly jets? Any advice from current or former members?

Flying jets in the military could provide valuable experience and training, especially if you're interested in a career in aviation.

The U.S. Air Force is traditionally regarded as the primary military branch for pilots, and they have a broad range of aircraft, including fighters, bombers, and transport planes. The standards for becoming a pilot in the Air Force are high, but it's a great opportunity if you can meet them. They have very intensive training programs, including the Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) which is designed to teach students how to fly military aircrafts.

The U.S. Navy also provides opportunities to fly jets. The Naval Aviator program has similar standards and training regimen to the Air Force. However, as a Navy pilot, you might also have the unique experience of taking off from and landing on aircraft carriers.

Lastly, the U.S. Marine Corps also has jet pilots. The air crews are typically smaller, and the focus is more on supporting ground troops, but they do operate a variety of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft.

Each branch has different requirements and commitments, so your personal circumstances and career goals would factor into your decision. I would suggest reaching out to recruiters from each branch or researching more about their respective flight programs for more detailed information.
