What's it like to be a bodyguard?

I'm intrigued by the idea of becoming a bodyguard after high school. Does anyone know what the job actually involves day-to-day and what kinds of skills or attributes are important for this career?

Your role would primarily focus on ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the person or group you are protecting. This could range from accompanying them to various locations, to scanning environments for potential threats, and taking necessary actions to mitigate risks.

Day to day tasks are often unpredictable and heavily depend on the client's schedule. One day, you might be on foot patrol around a property, and the next, you're accompanying a client to a public event. It could also involve travel domestically or internationally, depending on the client's requirements.

As for the skills required, good communication and observation skills are of utmost importance. You'll be required to stay alert and vigilant at all times and maintain regular communication with your client and other team members. Physical fitness and self-defense skills, especially knowledge of martial arts or other combat techniques, are also significant factors.

Also, you'll need the ability to quickly assess risk and react appropriately to diffuse situations because in this job, a cool, measured, and agile mind is often as important as physical strength. Lastly, problem-solving abilities and adaptability can really set you apart in this line of work.
