What does a Marine Infantry do?

A Marine Infantryman, often described as the backbone of the Marine Corps, is primarily responsible for closing with and destroying the enemy. Typically, most time is spent in rugged field conditions, and the role entails significant physical strain and potential risk.

Day-to-day activities can vary drastically depending upon the specific job within the infantry and the current mission. One day might be spent in local area training practicing basic infantry tactics, such as patrol base operations or conducting simulated assaults on objectives. The next day could be devoted to maintaining and cleaning weapons, vehicles, or equipment.

Marine Infantry units are often the first to deploy to conflict zones, conducting operations ranging from humanitarian aid missions to conventional combat. But they also provide the core skills of combat marksmanship, basic fitness, and small unit leadership that every Marine, regardless of job, will maintain throughout their service period.

To join the Marine Infantry, you'll need to meet the following requisites:
