Vocational jobs that don’t take 4 years?

I'm hoping to get into a field quickly after high school and don't want to spend tons of time in school. What are some good vocational jobs that don't require four years of study but still offer a decent salary?

There are several career paths that require less than four years of study and can still offer a decent salary. Here are a few options to consider:

1. Dental Hygienist: As a dental hygienist, you would work closely with a dentist to clean teeth and educate patients about oral hygiene. These programs can be completed in two years.

2. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): LPNs provide basic nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors. You can complete a practical nursing program in about a year.

3. Medical Sonographer: Sonographers use imaging equipment to help diagnose patients. You can become a medical sonographer with an associate's degree.

4. Air Traffic Controller: Though you would need a high level of training, you can start the process right after high school. A two-to-four-year program in air traffic management would then follow.

5. Electrician: Rather than a traditional degree, most electricians go through a 4-5 year apprenticeship program which does not involve traditional classwork.

6. HVAC Technician: HVAC technicians install and repair heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Training usually involves technical school training or an apprenticeship.

7. Computer Support Specialist: With an associate degree, you could become a computer support specialist, helping individuals or companies with their hardware and software issues.

Additionally, many of these vocations also give you the potential for further advancement in your career if you decide to pursue further education. Combining work and study is also a possibility in many fields. Please keep in mind that exact requirements and durations of study can vary by state and employer.
