What do field engineers do?

I'm fascinated by engineering but unsure about all the different types of jobs in the field. Can someone explain what a field engineer does? What kind of work environment do they typically have?

Field engineers, as the name suggests, often work "in the field," which means they primarily operate outside of the conventional office space, often on construction sites, manufacturing plants, or even remote areas, depending on the industry and project nature.

Field engineers play a crucial role in troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintenance of various equipment and technologies in their specific field, be it Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or otherwise. For instance, in the telecommunications industry, they might set up network systems and troubleshoot technical problems, while in construction, they could oversee operations, ensure safety compliance, and solve any engineering issues that come up.
