Which UCSD college is best for political science?

I'm interested in pursuing political science at UCSD but not sure which college within the university offers the strongest program. Any recommendations or insights into the best fit for poli-sci students at UCSD?

At UC San Diego, the political science program operates under the Division of Social Sciences, which is university-wide, not college-specific. This means no matter which college you belong to within UCSD, you'll have access to the same political science curriculum.

Instead, when choosing a college at UCSD, you might want to focus more on the general education (GE) requirements, values, and culture each college has to offer, as they are different. For example, Revelle College has a strong focus on a classic liberal arts education with an extensive list of GEs, while Muir College has a lighter GE load and is known for its environmental focus. If you love reading, writing and critical thinking, Eleanor Roosevelt College (ERC) might be a good fit, since its GE program, Making of the Modern World (MMW), is a five-course sequence that focuses on world history, literature, and international relations.

In conclusion, your choice of college within UCSD won't affect your political science studies directly. Instead, it will shape your overall educational experience through its unique environment and general education requirements. Good luck in making your decision!
