Which UCSD College is Best for Engineering Majors?

I've been admitted to UCSD and I'm planning to major in engineering. I'm trying to decide which college within UCSD would be the best fit. Does anyone have any insights on which college is best for engineering students?

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) does not place students in colleges based on their major, so any of the seven colleges could be a good fit for an engineering student. However, here are some considerations you may want to keep in mind:

1. Proximity to the Jacobs School of Engineering: Revelle and Muir are the closest to the engineering school, which could save you some commute time to class.

2. General education requirements: Each college has different general education requirements. Revelle College has a stronger focus on mathematics and physical sciences, which could complement your engineering coursework. Note, however, that Revelle has the most general education requirements. Warren College has a flexible general education curriculum that allows you more freedom to explore other interests or dive into your major.

3. Living communities: Sixth and Seventh Colleges are the newest, and their living facilities are more modern.

A helpful determinant could be to prioritize less demanding GE requirements to give you more room to focus on your major-related work or pick a college closer to the engineering school for convenience. However, most students say that the differences among the colleges are small, and what matters more is what you make of your time at UCSD. Remember, any college you choose will offer resources to support you in your engineering studies.
