Suggestions for the best college for engineering?

I'm starting to think about where I want to apply for engineering. What are some of the best colleges that have strong engineering programs? I'm open to any suggestions, whether big or small schools. Thanks!

There's certainly a wide range of excellent engineering programs, depending on the kind of experience you're seeking. A couple categories come to mind:

Large Universities

1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): Known worldwide for its rigorous and diverse engineering programs, ranging from aeronautics to chemical engineering.

2. Stanford University: This Silicon Valley university has strong relationships within the tech industry and offers a wide array of engineering disciplines.

3. University of California, Berkeley: UC Berkeley comes with a robust array of specializations and is especially renowned in the fields of Civil and Electrical Engineering.

Moderately-sized Universities

1. Carnegie Mellon University: CMU has a strong reputation in Computer Science and Engineering, with majors such as Electrical & Computer Engineering.

2. Cornell University: Cornell offers a broad range of engineering programs and the opportunity to work on multidisciplinary projects.

Small schools or focused programs

1. California Institute of Technology (Caltech): Popular for its focus on science and engineering. Scale is small but the focus on research is very deep.

2. Cooper Union: Known for a rigorous engineering program. Being in NYC provides plenty of internship opportunities.

Lastly, it's also a good idea to consider the type of engineering that you are interested in, as different schools may have different strengths within their engineering departments. Also, you might want to make note of factors such as location, cost, and the availability of internships and co-op programs.
