Recommendations for best medium-sized colleges for science?

I'm looking for medium-sized colleges with strong science programs. I prefer schools where professors are accessible and research opportunities are plentiful. Any suggestions on which ones are considered the best?

One of the medium-sized universities known for its strong science program is Rice University in Houston, Texas. The student-to-faculty ratio at Rice is about 6-to-1, which promotes close interaction between students and their professors. Rice has a strong natural sciences division, offering programs such as Biochemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science.

Another school worth considering is Brandeis University in Massachusetts. Brandeis is renowned for its research, particularly in the areas of biochemistry and biological sciences. It's a relatively smaller university with a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, which makes the professor's accessibility a major strength.

Lehigh University in Pennsylvania could also be an interesting choice. It hosts a number of robust science programs, complemented by research facilities and opportunities. The student-professor ratio is fairly low, ensuring personalized attention for students.

Johns Hopkins University is one of the most recognized names when it comes to research and science programs, especially in the health sciences. Bear in mind, however, that some of their programs like nursing are only offered at the graduate level. Despite being a larger institution, it has managed to maintain a low student-faculty ratio.

Remember to review each school's specific science programs and evaluate them based on your interests and career goals. Joining open houses, virtual tours, or reaching out to current students or alumni might provide extra insights to help in your decision.
