Top Schools for Electrical and Computer Engineering

As someone who's into both electrical and computer engineering, I'm eager to know which schools have the best programs combining these fields. What's the reputation of certain colleges in these areas?

MIT is renowned for both electrical and computer engineering. Their Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science offers an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) major, which is the largest undergraduate program at MIT. It’s competitive, but the opportunities and resources available to students are unparalleled.

Stanford University also has a strong program in these fields. It offers degrees in both electrical engineering and computer science with the opportunity to focus on hardware, software, and systems. Students have access to cutting-edge research facilities and world-class faculty.

The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) is another institution highly regarded for its electrical engineering and computer sciences programs. Their EECS department offers rigorous and comprehensive programs, with a dedicated faculty and lots of undergraduate research opportunities.

Carnegie Mellon University is yet another that has robust programs in both these fields. Its Electrical and Computer Engineering Department gives students hands-on experience, and many opportunities to work collaboratively on innovative research projects.

Finally, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is widely acclaimed for engineering overall, as well as its electrical and computer engineering programs specifically.

Keep in mind, these schools are all very selective. Yet, what's particularly great about them is that they do not merely excel in electrical engineering and computer science, but the intersection of the two disciplines as well. This offers a unique opportunity for students passionate about the convergence of these fields.
