Top computer science colleges in Pennsylvania?

I'm a junior interested in computer science, and I'm considering colleges in Pennsylvania. Can anyone recommend which schools have the strongest computer science departments and why they might be a good fit?

Certainly! Pennsylvania is home to several excellent computer science programs that can set you up for success in the field.

Firstly, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh is renowned for its computer science program. It's consistently ranked among the top computer science programs in the country and even globally. You'll find a rigorous curriculum, cutting-edge research opportunities, and a vibrant tech scene in the university and the city.

University of Pennsylvania, or UPenn, in Philadelphia also offers a strong computer science program within its School of Engineering and Applied Science. This program provides a solid foundation in the principles of computer science, combined with the interdisciplinary opportunities that come with being part of an Ivy League university. Also, given its location in Philadelphia, there are numerous opportunities for internships and jobs in tech.

Pennsylvania State University, or Penn State, offers a solid Computer Science program through its College of Engineering. The program focuses on the scientific and mathematical basis of computing, software systems, and specialized application areas.

Lastly, there is also Lehigh University located in Bethlehem, which has a well-respected computer science and engineering department.

When deciding which Pennsylvania school with a strong computer science department is right for you, consider factors such as: the specific computer science courses and specializations you're interested in, the research and internship opportunities, campus culture, class sizes, the tech scene in the surrounding area, and the opportunities for collaboration across different academic departments. Remember, the "best" school will be the one that fits you personally and academically.
