Percentage of vocational school grads employed?

Does anyone know what percentage of graduates from vocational schools typically find jobs? I'm curious about how employable vocational school makes you compared to traditional college grads.

The data on employment rates for vocational school graduates can vary quite a lot based on factors such as the field of study, geographical area, and timeframe after graduation that is being considered. However, as a general rule, vocational education does tend to lead to relatively high employment rates.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics in the United States, about 75% of students who earn a vocational (also called career and technical education, or CTE) certificate or associate degree are employed within six months of graduation. By comparison, only around 60% of traditional college graduates (Bachelor's degree holders) land a job within six months of graduating.

It's important to note that this doesn't necessarily mean vocational education is universally "better" or more employable than a traditional college degree. There are many factors at play, not the least of which is the fact that vocational programs often target specific industries that are in high demand, leading to relatively high employment rates. Meanwhile, some traditional college degrees do prepare graduates for specific careers which have high demand, while others prepare students for a wide range of possible fields.

This isn't to say a traditional college degree isn't valuable. College degrees often offer broader knowledge and skill sets than vocational ones, which can provide more flexibility in terms of job prospects across different fields down the line. And according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, on average, individuals with a bachelor's degree earn considerably higher wages compared to those with a trade school degree.

In sum, both can provide strong career paths. The choice between the two should depend on a student's particular career interests, learning style, financial situation, and long-term plans.
