Why are vocational jobs looked down on?

I've been hearing that vocational jobs can be looked down on compared to traditional college paths, but I'm not sure why. Is there a stigma, or are there legitimate reasons behind this perception?

The perception that vocational jobs are looked down upon can be attributed to a variety of cultural, historic, and societal factors. One of the key reasons may be the longstanding emphasis on academic achievement and the traditional narrative of success through a four-year college degree. On one hand, society often equates higher education with career success, financial stability, and social distinction.
