Best Colleges in Oregon for Science?

I want to pursue a science major but am not sure which colleges in Oregon offer the best programs. Any recommendations or experiences would really help me decide where to apply.

There are several excellent colleges in Oregon that are known for their strong science programs, so you've got quite a few options to consider.

First off, Oregon State University (OSU) has strong scientific programs and is particularly recognized for its research in areas like marine biology, forestry, fisheries and wildlife. If you're interested in environmental studies or bio-related fields, this could be a solid choice.

University of Oregon (UO) is another excellent institution, offering majors in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Environmental Sciences and more. UO is known for having a very active student research community, so if you're looking to gain hands-on experience, UO could be a good fit for you.

Reed College, a well-renowned liberal arts college in Portland, is known for robust science programs including Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Reed is known for its rigorous academic standards, and its commitment to undergraduate research-- it's one of few colleges in the U.S. that require seniors to complete an original research thesis.

Finally, Lewis & Clark College offers strong programs in Environmental Studies, Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and is known for their integrated approach to education that combines classroom theory with practical lab work and outdoor field experience.

Each of these schools has a distinctive culture and characteristic, so I would recommend researching each one a bit more deeply to see which one aligns best with your academic and personal objectives. Visiting the campuses, virtually or physically, could also help you get a feel for the environment you'd thrive in the most.
