Looking for advice on which colleges in the South have the leading computer science programs. I'm aiming for a great CS education along with a vibrant campus life. What schools should I look into?

Certainly, there are a range of top-notch schools in the South known for their strong computer science programs.

Up first is the Georgia Institute of Technology, more commonly known as Georgia Tech, located in Atlanta. This school has a nationally renowned computer science program with many opportunities for research and internships, especially given the tech scene in Atlanta. The campus life here is very active too, with a large number of clubs, sports, and events to participate in.

Another good option in the South is the University of Texas at Austin. It has a top-rated computer science department that is closely integrated with Austin's thriving tech industry. There are loads of opportunities for internships and jobs after graduation. As for the campus life, with its location in the heart of Austin, there's no shortage of things to do, from cultural events to food festivals to diverse music scenes.

Rice University in Houston, Texas also has a solid computer science department that is renowned for the quality of its undergraduate teaching. It's located in Houston, which is one of the largest cities in the U.S., offering students ample opportunities for internships and jobs in the tech industry. Additionally, the campus is known for its intimate and collaborative community, as well as the residential college system, which fosters a vibrant social life.

Also, don't overlook the "public Ivy", University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Computer Science is the second oldest in the United States and has a strong focus on research.

These are just a few options. Remember to check each school's specifics including course curriculum, faculty, and research opportunities to see which align best with your interests and career goals. Good luck with your college search!
